After some historical digging, I believe that the details of the Humpty Dumpty story have been greatly distorted over time. In fact, evidence strongly suggest that the whole Humpty Dumpty thing was simply a mis-quote, and was instead a reference to an exceptionally beautiful Indian Summer, followed by a spectacular display of Autumn foliage. Hence his "great fall." Historians. Sheesh.
